It is our pleasure to inform you that Serbia entered the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics. An application for admission of Serbia to IUGG as an Associate Member was received from the Geographical Institute "Jovan Cvijic" of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The official delegates from the Institute are namely: Ana Milanović Pešić (Secretary General and the IAHS correspondent) and Milan Radovanović (IAMAS correspondent).

Geographical Institute "Jovan Cvijic" SASA is enroled in the international project entitled "Glac - Pannonia Project", under the leadership of the Archaeological Institute from Belgrade and Department of Classics and Ancient History, The University of Sydney from Australia. On the 26th of January 2018, the contract of project realisation was signed in the Institute's quarters. The team leadership on behalf of the Institute was assigned to dr Jelena Ćalić.The subject of the research is the archaeological site Glac near Sremska Mitrovica, where the remains of the Roman emperial palace were found, which was built by emperor Maximanus Herculius in the 3rd and the begining of the 4th century. The goal of the project is the identification of the settlement formation, study of the paleo-landscapes and various aspects of the enviroment during the Ancient and Late Antiquity period. The project task of the team from our Institute is the processing and analysis of spatial data according to the CSIRO methodology, which was requested by the contracting authority, and includes the development of the geomorphological and geographical maps in different proportions, with the inclusion of data on land and vegetation aspects. It also includes the elaboration of a written interpretation of the geomorpholic history of the site.
