Geographical Institute "Jovan Cvijić" SASA, received with great sadness the news that Elena Leonidovna Vorobyevskaya, research associate of the department of rational use of nature, Faculty of Geography, MSU Lomonosov, Moscow, Russia, passed away on September 27, 2023.

Elena Leonidovna's field of scientific interests was related to various aspects of environmental management, including geoecological as well as ecological economics, recreational, ecological, traditional environmental management, with a special interest in the regions of northern Russia, Siberia (including the Baikal region), Kamchatka, Moscow region and even Serbia.

She participated in numerous expeditions and actively engaged in scientific activities, which was reflected in publications and lectures. Elena Leonidovna is the author of more than 150 scientific papers, actively participated in several scientific research projects, including grants from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research and the Russian Geographical Society. She presented here results at Russian and international scientific conferences, including conferences in 2013 and 2015 organized by our Institute.

Elena was a dear and respected associate with whom the Geographical Institute "Jovan Cvijić" SANU had a successful cooperation since 2013. On several occasions she was a participant and scientific manager of mutual scientific field researches of associates of the Lomonosov Faculty of Geography and associates of our Institute both in Serbia and in Russia.

For those associates who got to know her better, Elena was a quiet and gentle friend with a constant smile on her face that radiated kindness. We are comforted to know that her smile will forever remain in our memories, in our stories and will be the first image that appears when her name is mentioned.

We express our sincere condolences to the colleagues from the Faculty of Geography of Lomonosov Moscow State University, the family and loved ones of Elena Leonidovna.
